FX guns, I`d said it before!

on the old forum I`d posted about Air Arms being left behind in the design stakes, I mentioned FX as the most forward thinking manufacturer IMO, if you haven`t seen Airgungearshow`s latest vid from the IWA in germany, the FX guns are simply breathtaking,
luckily I neither need nor can afford one, Giles seems to think 900 sovs for a bullpup is something of a bargain! I take issue there mate!
but I still think if was in the market for a gun at that price range, I`d have an FX probably over anything else.
in the vid, the owner of FX guns assembles a new designed TDR, from it`s briefcase, in around 40 seconds, now that`s stunning!

I`ve spent my life in the cheap seats (LGU & S200 back up my point) & I think 900 quid for something that`s a hobby for me, is just too much, I`d back the member who posted before me about AA making a good quality break barrel we can actually afford!
so FX bullpups & ultimate sporters are all well & good, but out of my reach, but boy, those FX guns- if only!

Had a good play with my mates Bobcat at the range. Strangest gun I've ever shouldered, it pulled my body out of shape He sold it after a month.

Some folk swear by them , not for me though.

Considering the number of models that FX have you would think that you would see more of them about.

Very few are used in FT/HFT and I don't see many in use at my club. They appear to have nailed their colours to the mast with the "Smooth twist" barrel but that has a poor reputation in .177 and at lower power levels.

They are expensive for what they are but so are some other marks.

there were quite a few used in the Airgun challenge thing in Arizona posted online last year, I`m sure the Ted (holdover) guy used one & he knows a thing or two.

I think you`ve missed the point, it`s not a fashion thing at all, if you look at Ted`s score from the Arizona shoot (including some serious competition) FX`s seem to do the biz, that`s my point, radical design & pellet on pellet performance at mental distances!
Giles pal did a grouping at 50m on youtube with a Kalibrgun, I`d be happy to hit any target at that distance, let alone get a grouping!

Most of the Yank stuff is at FAC levels so has little resemblance to sub 12FPE.

With most of the Youtube stuff you have to remember that you only see what they wish you to see. On a practical basis there are few FX's used in competition and there has to be a reason.

To give some idea, rifles used in National HFT in 2014.(9 shoots)

Air Arms were used 507 times.(top usage)
FX was used 1 time. Which is less than specialist rifles like SCR, ISP and Whiscombe.

I think they are O.K. rifles but just too expensive for what they are. I remember the FX Axors which were O.K. but nothing special. Webley also made them under licence. I think if your going to pay £1000 plus for an air rifle there are some very good ones out there, especially second hand.

The FX "pump ups" are interesting but not at the price.

I think Air Arms need to get their thinking caps on
First of all AA needs gun with a buddy bottle to compete with BSA and Daystate on home turf
Secondly I still don't know why the S500 isn't available sub 12 in the UK
Third, why does the S410 still have that skinny barrel? I'll never know why they haven't upgraded the design to match the S510
