no matter which discipline you take, always find the best ammunition which suits your barrel. Don't wait until you get better, do it now! this will help you get better, do not take a poor substitute and work with that.
In FT get the best you can afford, a scope is top of the list, one which rangefinds consistently, the rifle you have, the pellets need to suit that. Pellets need to be tested over the 55 yard range. if you can gain access to a benchrest, this will take you out of the equation and allow you to evaluate which brand/die/batch works best. when you find that combo, buy as many as you can.

Your/my first port of call would be AADF 4.52s, I service all the AA rifles at my club and they all seem to shoot best with these, I also look after some of the other members rifles as well, and they all use these as well, but all barrels are different, but I would certainly try these first, you can spend/ waste a lot of money on pellets.
