air weapons Vs crossbows?

Sun Sep 04, 2016 8:59 am

Just a question
I understand the need for regulation, I have no quibble with the 12ftlbs limit, but why a FAC required for a 12+ftibs air weapon, but I can buy a crossbow producing 60-85ftlbs with nowt other than waving a drivers licence ?
I have no desire to do so!, but it makes you wonder...

Crossbow hunting is banned so maybe the thinking was along the lines of target shooting as with bows. It's becoming plain to see that some regulation is required now due to constant stories of misuse.

I`m guessing that, since they`re banned for hunting, `they` think there`s no need for regulation not caring how hard you punch a hole in a target!
`they` as usual, are not factoring in the idiot DNA strain that runs constantly through our society!

I would like to 2nd that statement, I know a few of them, one of them even has an FAC, I wouldn't let him loose with a peashooter, and he will know that I am talking about him if he ever reads this. Rant over. Rog

Having shot cross bows and long bows its the idiot factor that cause all the problems.,
and not the genuine user . plus not the idiot that suffer from their behaviour ,
its the true users.

There was a post concerning crossbows on another forum the other day where a member was asked to go and despatch a family pet (cat) that had returned home in agony with a nine inch crossbow bolt through its neck. No matter how much you legislate things no laws or regulations can cater for some of the disgusting humans that habit this earth. I really do hope there is such a thing as "karma" and it comes back to the arsehole that did that.
