Well, I've been off in the workshop cooking things up again, this time a slip on silencer for my ProSport!! This is just a test bed made out of some old stainless tubing a friend had lying around but the internals have more than proved themselves, and I am very pleased with the result Only 3 components in this one that just press fit together, Stainless steel body, Brass Collet, and a Delrin baffle system of my own design.

Next stop is to make a final version out of Carbon tube which I should hopefully do over the weekend. For now though have some pics

Bravo TD9. Loving the finish on the aluminium adj. stock butt. What weight did you end up with?
The silencer tube in carbon looks swell, too. Are the brass end plates held by resin?

The finish on the recoil pad was grit and then bead blasted, overall weight ended up at around 315grams, but most of that is in the rather chunky mounting plate. It's going on the back of my 97 eventually so the extra weight doesn't concern me. Currently testing the pad with thumb screws at the minute to enable adjustments on the fly.

I must admit I'm a bit too pleased with how the carbon mod came out, pictures don't do it justice haha!! But the brass collet is press fitted with a type of loctite retention compound (can't remember exactly which it was) definitely the first of many I've caught the bug now I think

That answers the finish question - didn't think you'd sprayed it outside and let it bloom. Ha!
My small engineering experience says you could possibly tickle the alloy with some weight reducing holes, or deep cut countersunk. But then I am living with a Kelly Hoppen fan... sheez. Did you plot onto cnc programme; I like to think that wasn't all sweat and tears of hacksaw, file and wet and dry?

The silencer is special. No question. Devising and constructing such an item has been bugging me over the past month or so. To the point of making a purchase of some ebay alloy tube. My finish will hopefully be matt spray cos woodies do shy away from shiny black and even shiny camo dip.

The recoil pad was a bit of a labour of love, and the mounting plate was machined from one piece which led to a LOT of excess material that would be shaved off were I to do it again. It was made on milling machine but controlled by hand and eye ( no fancy CNC for me ) however as I mentioned before its going on my 97 so a little weight at the rear is probably a good thing!!

Thanks once again for the compliments on the silencer, it really does have to be seen to be appreciated and almost totally negates muzzle crack from as little as 10 yard ( so quarry definitely wont hear it coming ) All I can say is if you want to have a go then crack on!! I bought all my materials from eBay and researched baffle designs and styles online. Good call on the matt finish, if you need any pointers on design etc feel free to drop me a message
