I have fitted a few Altaros and Lanes on to S200s. I have also completely taken apart, changed all the seals and re-set a Tench regulator ... again on an S200 but never tackled an S400. I dare say, they will all be the same principle.
Altaros regs do not need a hole drilling but they still 'breathe' by leaving off the o ring that seals the end cap to the air tube on the S200. Not sure how this works on the S400 but here is a good Youtube vid.

I bought the Altaros, nice fella to deal with, fast delivery, easy to fit and a consistent 11.4 ft/lb out of the box. Very happy bunny, but the bunnies aren't happy if you get my drift.
