When ever my father had a cold he swore by placing a blob of Vic on his tongue.....did it for years but it didn't make it right .
Your method may work but it's not really best practice .

Hi BBF, I think you will find that air arms do pretty much the same thing I do, they dump the air by undoing the male connector s472 and the seal s484 pops out and dumps the air. But if you want to spend time shooting it down and wearing your gun out carry on. Seals are cheap. Rog

Re: s510 xtra fac accuracy issues
Ok so I got my chronograph today and here's the results.
I think I'm down on power by and average of 50fps, I was wondering why these shot so well on full power when they are supposed to perform best at 900fps but that's what they were shooting at basically, over the 1st 30 shots disregarding shots 15 and 16 I only have a 21fps spread! I must have done a good job on the striker rod. I've already changed the breech seal so maybe as suggested here already I could be loosing air through the o rings on the power adjuster but if there was something wrong with an o-ring I wonder would the powercurve be so good, which brings me to the conclusion that my hammer spring is a bit on the light side and not hitting the valve hard enough, any feedback greatly appreciated, thanks.

I'm surprised the jsb 15.9 gr didn't shoot better and 5 of the bisley mags went in one hole followed by 5 flyers but the 18gr diabolo's did well 13mm 6 shot group at 43yards in breezy conditions, so maybe now it's down to pellet choice, I'm waiting on a tin of jsb 18gr pellets and some pellet lube, so hopefully they'll do the business.
I wouldn't worry too much about the grouping yet. Have you tried cleaning the barrel, then firing some more shots through the barrel to lead it up again. I have heard many times that you clean the barrel when your groups start to open up, so that may help, and it doesn't cost anything, apart from a pull through, which I have done today on my rifle using string and some patches.

Not advisable in my book

It always worried me too about air in the cylinder, but check out the official Air Arms advice at this link.
