old age
old age
It's a total shame that when you learn just how to shoot, you're too old to hold the gun steady. Same thing with my golf. I have my swing pretty much in total control, but I just don't hit it quite as far as I used to. Had the short stroke experimental TX out Saturday and I could literally pick and hit a pellet hole at 25m from my FT seated position. Today, it took me 50 shots or so to settle down into that kind of form. Am I correct in thinking 57 is starting to get old? I still feel like a kid, but I now know I'm not.
Re: old age
It happens to the nicest people, Fred. No one is exempt. However, keep trying to do stuff and we can prolong our youth that bit longer. It is giving up that really makes you old.

You tend to use your brains rather that your braun as the years roll on:geek:

Did I mention that I'm the only one to have attended EVERY meet since we started
Re: old age
Don't worry about it Fred. I'm 10 years ahead of you in the decay stakes and also feel like a kid but things do start not to work as well. I'm pretty good at the rested positions but some of the woodland course targets make me quite grumpy when I see the scope magnifying the shake. Good game though be old but don't act old!

Re: old age
just started to enjoy my shooting more now . @ near 60

Re: old age
As I got to my late 60's, in my head I thought I was still a young man but trying to do an HFT course It became a struggle just getting down and then back up, I was never settled on the shot. Its ok for others to say "oh come on and just enjoy, never mind the score" its not that easy, just a knackering day you could do without.
I can go to the club now 3 days a week and sit down in a warm cabin knocking down targets all day. Much easier.

Re: old age
57 is not old Fred
I'm 64 and still think i'm 44. Out every morning for a 3 mile stagger
around the fields and lake, call in at a mate's house (which overlooks the lake, and is halfway round my walk) for coffee and a chat. Then make my way home just in time for her indoors getting up and seeing to breakfast
I feel as fit as a butchers dog, but i need a rest for shooting
I just can't hold still (hope it's not Parkinsons coming on)

Sometimes you chaps don't help at all! At 36 you're making me feel like a kid again only I've already given up hope of taking unsupported shots and talk of three mile walks is just rubbing it in. When my grand parents used to warn me of the perils of my bad "genes" I thought they were talking about my fashion sense
