Newbie
Hi all, I've just joined this site as I've bought an old air arms s410 carbine. Looking forward to getting some good advice and ideas. Haven't been hunting with it as yet but going to get out next week. My only gripe is that it has no safety ! I'll trawl thru these pages as someone will no doubt have a trigger to sell . Thanks and looking forward to getting to know you.. Cheers..gaz
Re: Newbie
Hello and welcome.
The airarms safety trigger is pants and the safety button has a habit of dropping out
A safety on a trigger is a stupin idea anyway.
You would be better off only keeping the last pellet slot empty and only cocking when you need too.

Alreeeeeeeeeeet

I agree with Bri (Eboswan) Gaz, the safety is a waste of time and down right ill thought out! If the hole bothers you, buy a nice shiny Rowan eng trigger

Hello and welcome
I also share ebo's and Geordies sentiment that the factory fitted trigger mounted safety is a waste of space, the best thing is to ditch it and only chamber a round as and when you are ready to take the shot. It's better to be safe and risk spooking your quarry than to chance your luck on a safety (especially if it's mounted on your trigger)

The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool
Re: Newbie
I'd suggest you get your power output and consistency checked before hunting anything alive and work out your sweetspot (typically 170-110 bar on an S410k). Then find the right pellet for it (ones that group the best at hunting distances). Then you're good to go. Put some practice in with it as well.
The trigger thing really is a non-issue.

Welcome to the club
We might be teaching you to suck eggs, but as Dr B said make sure you put the practice in and get used to the rifle while shooting targets before you decide to go hunting
Have fun!
