Air Arms S510 Carbine .22 pellet question

Hi All

Firstly apologies as i am sure this has been asked and covered many times but after sieving through 31 pages of post thrown up in a search i found nothing that has helped.

I am about to collect an Air Arms S510 Carbine in .22 flavour this will be my first ever .22 rifle, i own an S410f, a TX200HC and an HW100KT but all in .177 as a result i know what works best in all these for me and for anyone interested the Air Arms 4.52mm at 8.4grains and JSB 4.52mm at 7.87grains and i have tried many brands, sizes and weights.

The above pellets seem to be favourites for many in particular the Air Arms but i have no idea what people are using in their .22, 510's with good results, all my shooting is done at the range and zeroing is done at 30 yards.

So what do you use?

Any help advice appreciated and please lets not get into the which is best .177 or .22 i already know it's .177

Cheers Steve

jsb exact in 5.52 go well in 80% of air arms .22 barrels, so probably best place to start ;)

JSB EXACT .22, 5.52 are 14.35 grains
AA FIELD .22, 5.52 are 16 grains
I used AA fields for years but when but I could buy JSB exact's for a couple of quid a tin cheaper I changed and found the JSB's just as good.
You are going to have to find out yourself though.

Hiya John

I found a bit of a difference in accuracy with all my .177's in regards to the use of Air Arms or JSB's, even with the same size and weight Air Arms out performed JSB however the JSB 7.87gr were excellent and in most cases better than both brands in 8.4gr.

I appreciate every barrel is different and .22 is a different game but i am looking for a good starting point with a gun that will be new to me, thank you for providing me with a good place to start ;)

Cheers Steve

You are correct. It was a tin of JSB Exact Express I was looking at. My apologies for any confusion. They still shoot well enough in my gun though.

no need to apologise john  , they do an even lighter pellet as well, 13.summat grains, shoot a fair bit flatter apparently, but some of the barrels that like the exact and express pellets dont like em at all  but thats barrels and pellets for you :? ;)
