Scope Mount Advice

Hi all,

Looking for some help/advice.

I have an ultimate sporter and have bought a Hawke Sidewinder Tactical 8.5-20x42 today and wanted to know if I would need High or Extra High Scope mounts to fit this without interfering with the Magazine loader whilst being able to use the 2" sidewheel that it comes with?

I will be going for Sportsmatch mounts and either HTO36C (high) or HTO71C (Extra High).

Appreciate any help you can give here

I had a tac 30 and used sportsmatch mediums on my ultimate, but I didn't use side wheel, have a look at bkl 30mm lows sounds daft but they are a bit higher than sportsmatch meds and they are fine and the saddle clears the magazine.

You will be okay with High two piece sportsmatch mounts, The ultimate sporter has adjustable cheek piece so can adjust it too your liking.

The High mounts work well, enough room too clear magazine indexing tower, and closer too the barrel than extra high mounts.
The high mounts will look better as well, Because you have a small 42 objective bell on your scope and extra high is a bit much.

Just an update.

I went for the Sports match high in the end which were perfect and give just enough clearance so I can use the 2" sidewheel without interfering with the magazine loading.

Although medium mounts would have been OK with barrel clearance it would have meant that I would not have been able to use the add on sidewheel.
