My S510 makes a high pitch whistle when I'm filling the air tank. It usually starts when the pressure matches the pressure in the gun's air tank. What causes this? Can it be fixed?

I might be wrong but!,
I think the whistle is the air passing over the restrictor screw in your filler probe.
This is a safety device which makes sure you don't fill your air cylinder too fast.

Its common in the s400/410 series
So i would assume its fine.

try filling a little slower , it might help

Tiniest bit of grease (I used silicon) rubbed on the o-rings (new stile T-bar fitting) and then wiped off seemed to cure mine.

It may be worth pointing out that if you do apply grease then for the love of God make sure it is something that is non combustible (like raj's silicon based) otherwise you will likely find out the true meaning of dieseling (possibly in a spectacular fashion)

I have diver's silicone grease. Will that work?

Deiseling in a pcp...nah. The oil or wrong grease will perish the seals.

This happens with my Webley LiteW8, and I worked out that its down to filling it too quickly. When it starts to whistle, back off on the air tank valve and slowly turn it up again. You will find that it may take a couple of back offs and slow turn up of the air pressure, but it will then stop whistling. If you fill it too fast, your air cylinder will become hot, so always fill up slowly. I try and do the fill over about 1 minute, which is better than a quick squirt. I sometimes get the problem of my air tank being filled too quickly by the dive shop, depending on who serves me. One idiot does it in about ten seconds. I always know when he's done it, as the tank is quite warm to the touch. This is also false economy, as when the air cools down, it will drop the pressure in the tank, something that is worth thinking about when filling your rifle as well.
