premission through free paper ads?

Tue Feb 24, 2015 7:34 am

Has anyone on here or dose anyone know someone that's gained permission through a ad on free ads ,the loot or any other free ad paper? I'm just curious really as I see loads of ads and always wonder if it actually works ,I'm sceptical myself.

It's highly unlikely that any land owner or lease holder would grant permission for a complete stranger to use a gun on their property on the strength of a classified advertisement.

best thing to do is make some leaflets for your self , saying free pest control , with your name , address tel numbers . land line is good . and a small bit about your self, like you have been shooting for x years , have insurance , are local , etc , then call in on local farms and hand it to them and talk to them about what you want to do free for them,

insurance will help http://basc.org.uk/join-basc/

also show them some fpe test of your rifle , and you can print off a land owners permission slip , for them to sign, it shows you know your stuff, http://basc.org.uk/?s=pomision+form&x=7&y=6

If it was me i would be putting pieces of paper around the place that has all my details on. This information will attract trouble  .

Face to face is the way to go. Have some business cards made ready your face to face meet.

Did I mention that I'm the only one to have attended EVERY meet since we started

I'm with Ray on this one, putting personal details out is asking for trouble.
The best way to get some vermin shooting is to go out and identify the problem first, areas with lots of rabbits, crows or pigeons, not just farms, look at garden centres, stables, large gardens etc. Then find the landowner and introduce yourself. If they do have a pest problem they usually want it sorted.

I think most people would view what equates a shooters C.V. with a good deal of suspicion, after all statements made in such documents can be at best exaggerated,or at worst outright lies.

im in the process of looking for a permission at the mo,im finding calling in on places and talking ftf is the best way,one farm I went to gave me a permission for a month until he puts his sheep in the fields then hes going to review it. keep calling in on your travels I think is the best way.

As Mr Punch said, that's the way to do it,get yourself known and allow people to assess you face to face. One of my permissions came about having repainted a crop sprayer for a local arable farmer,I didn't have to raise the subject. While writing a cheque for me he looked up and said "I hear you shoot, could you do anything with the feral pigeons here?".
