Hi, have just found out about the HFT 500, and am I right that it's got the same barrel as the MPR?

I've always thought that I'd love my MPR with a side leaver mechanism and I think that's exactly what the HFT 500 is only with a longer cylinder tube? I think, is it the longer FAC length cylinder tube?

over priced in my opinion, £ best part 900, no reg, sporter style pistol grip,no hamster, for a target based rifle. don't want one! not knocking your opinion, but the HW 100 to me is a better bet, not to mention BSA's new HFT weapon.

I appreciate what your saying, I just prefer Air arms rifles as I have always had s400/500 actions and I know them inside out and am able to service them and tune them myself (once I have removed the stupid anti tamper)

I wouldn't know where to begin with a weirauch or a BSA id be lost. Totally agree about the price tho, my MPR was about £700 new and the HFT 500 isn't that much different, certainly not worth £200 more than an MPR

However my MPR is deadly consistent in the sweet spot for easily 45 shots so the increased cylinder size and shot count on the HFT 500 would make it even more consistent surely ? Then there's really no need for a reg, i have never had any need to put a reg in my MPR just need to know your sweet spot and keep your power levels in check.

the price tag of the rifle for me, suggests it should have one. i have owned an S400, won a regional championship at my grade of the time, loved it, but that was sub £4oo at time, at £900 a reg should be fitted in my opinion. it is in reality a 400/500 in new clothes, too much.

Hi, defiantly no need for a reg in a 500, mine does 100 shots at around 15 fps variation from a 190 bar fill down to 120 bar, the air tube is about 40mm shorter than the FAC tube if I remember, accuracy is as good as my ev2. just spend time on chrono seeing what pressure it likes and setting trigger up right and there a great gun, but maybe a bit overpriced.

in your opinion, no reg needed. this may be true. in my opinion no £900 price tag needed for what is in essence an s400.

Have just messaged Julian to find out if I can get hold of a HFT 500 cylinder to put on my MPR , then I will effectively have a HFT 400?! In a MPR stock.

Not sure how it would line up with the standard muzzle guard, may have to get a custom one, but this would add just a little more consistency in the sweet spot an probably a lot cheaper and easier than adding a reg.

Fitting the longer 500 cylinder can be done.
The original stripper will still be longer than the cylinder but the underside flat bit has to be elongated
[did it with a half inch powerfile] The original figure of eight will not fit either cos you have moved the spacer forward so a DS one with a made cone will do it or leave it floating.

Thanks for this reply, was just thinking exactly what you said just before reading your post, think I will elongate the flat section on the original muzzle extension as you said.

With regards to the figure 8, I will probably just leave it floating, but could you explain what you mean by DS one with a made cone???

I got mine second hand in mint condition so saved a couple of hundred quid, I wouldn't want to pay asking price on a new one when you can get a ev2 second hand for less and sill have change to get the reg serviced.
