erm, can I just add, as much as we`d all love this tale to be true, the director Jean-Jacques Annaud researched the story diligently & could find no basis in truth of the tale, great movie right enough, although, hang on, don`t wanna spoil it for anyone. just a great movie.

Oh you do make me laugh zipster! Keep up the day job though as your debut on "Live at the Apollo" is decades away

A good movie based on some fact and some fiction. The man may not have existed but the conditions did and worse! We really have no idea apart from books and war footage. I did meet a veteran of the Eastern Front thirty or more years ago - a German. At Kursk and the Orel. His descriptions of the wave upon wave of Russian cannon fodder remain with me.

We who have never seen combat and the horror of it would not revel in it I think had we experienced it?
