I'm after advice on the above. I'm not sure of the age of the gun but since it doesn't have a power adjuster it must be approx 2005 since Guns after this date all had the adjuster. It has a safety trigger, which, since it was introduced in 2007, must've been retro fitted. The gun is in really good condition, but I'm concerned about buying a 10yr old gun. Should I be?
The RFD is looking £595 to include a 12l 232 bar bottle, which seems to be a year out of date. Coming from NI, everything goes through the RFDs which means prices are always high since there is no free trading.
Your opinions are greatly appreciated

Speaking as a UK civilian, the price seems a tad on the heavy side. The bottle has little value as a, its out of test and b, its 232bar. I would say around £400-450 as a fair price for the rifle on a good day. I personally wouldn't buy a 232bar tank, 300bar is where it's at.

Thanks Geordie, your comments are appreciated. Have you any idea what an in date 300bar bottle is worth 2nd hand? Also why 300 bar instead of 232?
Is there anything I should be looking for in a 10yr+ rifle, the blueing is still in good nick and no rust anywhere

A 300 bar bottle will get you 23% extra air per fill 8-) .So all in all I think what Gordon has said is crack on.
With the rifle being in excellent condition I cant see the age being against you. Could you get a better deal with out the bottle.

Thanks, is there any sort of service the gun would need? I'm thinking more preventative type maintenance

Hammer rail clean is the main one. If you have spare time you could go the whole hog and replace all the seals as they don't cost hardly anything.

Thanks
Have just established the date of manufacture as April 2004! RFD said wistfully, the wee guns only a couple of years old! That plus an out of date bottle should give me a fair bit of bargaining power, i would think. Im thinking £500 is about the right price?

Well, strange how things go sometimes! The S410 Deal rightly or wrongly was my gun (6 month old HW97kt Backline) plus £300 for an 11 yr old S410 and out of date 232 bar bottle. I was working away from home today, with the gun in the boot, to do some sort of deal tomorrow and I happened to call into a dealer, in the sticks and after a bit of negotiation, I'm now the proud owner of an 18month old S510 extra FAC Superlite, new QTec moderator and new 7l 300 bar tank and all fittings for a change price of £430! Given the shortage of guns in NI and their high 2nd hand price, I am well chuffed and feel Ive got myself a bargain! Roll on tomorrow when I pick it up :D
