photon xt

Tue Nov 10, 2015 12:52 pm

Just been offered one of these on a swap for a nitesite viper. And was wondering if anyone owned or had experience with one.if so are they any good ,what's the pros and cons . The reason I'm thinking of swapping is I can not get used to the awkward position of the nitesite . Plus it will give me another reason to buy another gun

Mine nails bunnies to 42 yards easily, could probably do 50 once I get used to range judgement. The only problem I had was getting it zeroed, it was a bitch until I bought Sportsmatch fully adjustable mounts, now it's bang on.

My standard illuminator works very well at airgun ranges, in fact a couple of weeks ago I went out just as the sky was blackening and I didn't need the illuminator at all. With it switched on I can see outlines and eye shine at around 120 yards, they do say a T20 improves it a lot but for now I'm sticking to standard.

With the mounts, I bought Hawke first, but they were as well machined as an American power socket and needed an unbelievable 2mm of shimming, even then the POI was all over the place and the windage was at full tilt with the crosshair hiding in the left corner. With the Sportsmatch fully adjustables which were 64 quid I can leave the hair centred and hit a 10p group at 30 yards in daylight.

Interesting . Thanks I think I'll leave the ir and use the on board one for now and use the money for a set of adjustable mounts
