Hawke optics new Reticle The TMX ... I love it, allowing very long range shooting indeed... only for fun shooting, plinking not hunting.

I think Hawke scopes are very underated just because, they are a reasonable price. Very good glass, easy to use and very robust.

I totally agree regarding the glass on Hawke scopes, very crisp, bright glass for the money, However, in my opinion First Focal Plane scopes is the way to go on sub 12 FPE air rifles. It is very surprising the lack of knowledge from shooters regarding the differences and the benefits of First focal plane scopes.

Is this an air rifle scope or a scope for cf or rf rifles? The use of a deer in the promotion suggests cf to me. If air rifle only then the use of a deer is just plain wrong. You cannot take deer with an air rifle and it is wrong to perhaps imply you can? Believe you me there are some airgunners who think you can or use them on other inappropriate prey! As for the sniper* bit well I find such references disturbing Zippy because here again some airgunners think it is ok to take long range shots at prey. I've heard them up the range! (Bloke up there the other day talking about taking out chattering jackdaws in his garden because they annoyed him. What part of the general licence is that allowed under then?)

Also the kind of thing the antis look for mate. Actually read a discussion on an anti site years ago about the obsession with sniping!

Waaaaaaaay to complicated and fussy for Deer stalking is that reticle and unnecessary. A 30/30 ret is all thats required for the vast majority of field work with a centre fire in this country. Most stalking shots are taken at no more than 200 yards and in normal circumstances a lot less. As an example a 243 zero'd at 1" high at 100 yards is bang on at 200 so its simply point and shoot in a field situation.
I feel that reticle may be designed for long range varmint shootong in the American plains for those hunters that don't dial in perhaps.
I could see the reticle being of use in airgun situation though with its multiple aimpoints if the scope is parrallax adjustable of course. I've never clicked on zippys link so i don't know but is the scope in first focal plane or 2nd? if its 2nd then that really is dedicated to centrefire in which case its too fussy for my liking

Aye but a lot like fussy reticles Pat. To make up for other shortcomings or deficiencies? Just like big scopes on an air rifle which only have an effective humane range of 40 yds? A lot can't handle the good old 30/30. I still regret selling those whitetail classics with max mag of 5. Quite sufficient

The meaning was fun shooting only Steve, not hunting, hunting with sub FPE air guns should be done sensible ranges. I understand that perfectly.

This was only too show the new Hawke reticle only. Ted, on Teds holdover is now using the same long range reticle by Vortex optics The reason why is the very loopy trajectory from sub 12 FPE air rifles and the pellet gets blown around with wind.

Only an idiot would use an air rifle for large animals

Here bellow Ted explains the benefits of long range reticles and I also know in The USA they have Higher power Air rifles.

I have the Lightstream on my Rapid with FFP. Stunning scope and well worth the money.

There are a lot of idiots around Zippy

Probably had more Hawkes than any other make, good value for money. Tend to stick with lower mag personally with 40mm or 44mm objectives. Even my rimmies only have lower powered 3-9x40 Rimfire dedicated scopes, the 98 has a 3-9x40 Panorama and the Scorpion the original Japanese optics Frontier 2.5-10x44. These Frontiers were amongst the finest scopes ever produced by Hawke. Bob found four new boxed ones when he cleared out his old shop. I got one and the other three were snapped up by those who know what a fine scope it was - sorry Zippy but you missed out
