S410 stripdown

Hi all
Just started to strip my S410 classic, to change all the seals and give the hammer rail a polish. I tried to get the push on silencer adapter off but it was stuck fast. I eventually got it off and the barrel is all scored and marked under the adapter. New adapter required from julian now, as I marked the old 1 badly getting it off.
I hope the rest of the stripdown goes better than this.

Finished the strip down tonight, without further problems, having cleaned and polished the hammer rail and changed all the seals. It is a lot smoother to use and running at 11ft/lb with aith AA fields.
I now have a problem that i cannot fathom out. The gun "twangs" very loud when shot.
Anybody any ideas as to why this is happening and how can i stop it.
Thanks
Kevin

Hi,

IIRC someone fixed it by sliding a piece of heatshrink sleeving down the hammer spring and then shrinking it on. It didn't cover the whole spring just the coils in the middle. Also search for 'de-pinger' depending on where the noise is coming from.

I think Julian, our sponsor, sells them - BGA Spares (superb service and nice guy too!) from the Index page :)

You also get it from over tightening your stock. I would just let it all bed down first before you do anything.

I was looking at this fix myself. You can actually use half a brush cut down and then twist the wires to hold the bristles together. You can also use Velcro hair curlers, cut each different diameter curler in half and push them inside each other. You only need a permeable barrier to slow down the shock wave in the air as the pressure reduces when you fire.

Some people have used curlers and bottle brushes, but i would get a proper one from bgaltd ( and not just because he's a nice guy).
If you think about it how many times are you going to strip the cylinder to check on your bodge jobs. Get the proper tool for the job and forget about the worry of whats going on in there. They dont cost hardly anything in the scheme of things.

I've already bought one from bgaltd, it works well. Good service too. The brush and curlers tip is just a heads up for fettlers.
