i just found a picture of my gun when I first had it and it looked lovely, I then found a picture from more recently and the stock is far far darker almost like beech and in the first pic when I first got my s410 the stock was a light colour walnut and the rosewood real stuck out. Now the walnut is very dark and the rosewood blends in?? Any ideas on how I could lighten the walnut only?

Hi mate there's only one way to go ,
1/if it's just oiled steam it with a proper steamer and sand with wire wool .
2/if varnished or similar finish , use nitromorse then steam and sand .

Iv found the wood tends to go darker with age.
Oiling does have the same effect too.

I bought an HW 100 from a club mate and he had probably over-oiled the stock and it was very dark. I took the stock back to bare wood with cabinet scrapers (careful if you haven't used them, they can take off too much wood if you are not careful) and then re-oiled. Any wood darkens with age let alone oiling - the classic is Oak when used in building.
