My TX 200 HC has a loose fitting cocking arm.
When it is deployed from the ball attachment
it has quite a lot of play ???
Is it either the arm is worn or the cocking shoe ??

Quite normal to have some play when the arm is detached, if the rifle is shooting well then nothing to worry about. In my experience if there is an issue then more likely to be the cocking shoe (they have a habit of fracturing especially on the HC due to the required cocking force).

" If I do my bit " as the saying goes it shoots very well.
In have taken of the ball catch for the cocking arm just to see
how much the cocking arm drops and it drops around an inch,
I have read that the cocking arm shout be level with the barell
without hooking up to the ball connector.

The 1" of droop sounds about right, I have never seen an HC nor TX that did not.
I would stop being concerned and just enjoy shooting it

Sounds like AA's shoddy quality control again, despite what the glossy ad's say. No excuse for poor fit on a rifle masquerading as a quality product!
Had the same complaint with mine. The dealer said "they were all like that". Surely that doesn't make it right?
Come to think of it, it sounds a bit like Land Rover. I had a new 2.4 TDCi Defender some years ago, with an appallingly noisy and sloppy transmission. The Land Rover customer service manager said "it's characteristic of the marque sir". No wonder UK manufacturing is slowly disappearing own the tubes!

Do you mean side to side play or up and down? Up and down is normal as there is really no way to avoid it, but side to side isn't normal. I have TX's with 100,000 shots and they have very little side to side play. I always take a toothpick and pack a load of quality lube in around the 2 slots at the pivot and then just wipe off any that comes out with use.

I'm referring to the sloppy fit in the cocking arm pivot (arm, clevis & pin) and the clearance between the cocking arm and the shoe.

I got a tatty mk2 TX a few weeks ago. The underleaver has some side play, if i dont concentrate when I return the underleaver to the locked position, it slides sideways and the ball detent doesn't locate, mmm
