Well the Scottish Government will be discussing the proposed licence today at Hollyrood. Looking very likely that it will get passed today :?

We will find out later today if air gun owners in Scotland need to get a licence :?

I have attcahed a couple of links to the news on the subject :)

Now watch the pressure for England and Wales to follow suit.
It proves that the idiots run the asylum and take absolutely no notice of public feeling.

I watched it as well. Not really sure exactly how the bill will help?

To be honest there is more danger from knives than air weapons and the crime using knives is at record high in Scotland :?: No matter what, the minority of individuals who commit irresponsible acts with Air weapons will not be stopped, they will still have weapons and still use them, regardless of a possible long custodial sentence when caught.

Hopefully we will get told soon what we need to do to get a licence and what requirements are detailed in the bill.

It could be a very expensive time with the cost of the licence itself and if/should the legislation stipulate gun cabinets, then this could be a massive expense to Scottish Air Weapon owners.

I do wonder how long it will be before this process starts in other parts of UK?

Yes a sad day for scottish airgunners. I am not surprised that the bill got passed with such a high margin.

The cost. That is the big question? Hopefully not anymore than the current Firearms Certificate or Shot Gun Certificate (£88.00 and £79.50)

I have attached the information available on the BASC site about the Scottish Airgun Licence FAQ's
