S410 fac xtra barrel removal

Thu Jun 04, 2015 8:42 pm

Hi all

Im doing a service on my rifle and have figured out pretty much how to do most of it.

Any instructions on how to remove the barrel and shroud would be great as I need to replace the seal.

Thanks for the help :)

if you need advice on how to strip a rifle. my advice would be don't do it. put the gun in a shop and let them do it. if you fook it up it will cost a lot more to fix in the long run.

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless.

Ive stripped it and put it back together a few times and no problem all, Im just asking if there any directions/tips on removing the barrel and shroud from the breech. I don't have the luxury of a shop to assist with air rifles.

Im used to working on firearms for the past twenty years but only using an air rifle a few years.

Doesn't matter, if no one can help, I'll figure it out but no harm in asking anyway :)

someone will help you out buddy. im not a gunsmith but I would have thought the barrel and shroud would only have a few screws holding them on.

I did mine a couple of years ago and can't remember. Give Julian a bell as he helped me with mine after I dropped it :o
The shroud was well bent

Hi,

If it's any use on my S410 non-FAC the barrel is held in place with two grub screws on top of the breech (one I think was under the magazine retaining spring). Some rifles I believe may have a screw under the barrel but I don't know which ones. The barrel breech seal can be change without removing the barrel. It's a bit fiddly but can be done with a bit of perseverance.

Thanks Mark and BBF

Stripped the rrifle completely but I can't get the barrel shroud to twist off no matter what I do and i have removed everything.

I took the picture below as I can kinda see a seal , how it changed with the barrel on

Removed mine several times with the use of rubber gloves as these give you a good
Grip, there is some loctite on the threads which the old hair dryer can soften up.
Found my xtra to have cut o rings on the barrel support as the corners on the support
Are rather sharp.

Hi,

It's only an O-ring and I think I prised mine out with a cocktail stick or such like. Putting new one in is more fiddly but IIRC carefully aided by a bent paper clip.

Thanks zimbo and Mark

I must get some gloves and a hair dryer and give it a go tomorrow. I've taken it apart about ten times now so it feels comfortable :)

Looks like the breech seal might not be there at all or im missing it when I look into it
