Unless the Police have their own forensic facilities they cannot test. Yes, they can have the gun put over a chrono to indicate if it may be near or over the limit but then they would have to get a registered forensic lab to do the testing.

In Court you would be able to ask for sight of any Calibration Certificates for any measuring devices but a registered lab will be sure to have them. You can also commission your own testing and put it up in Court to counter the prosecution tests.

You would also require very deep pockets.

This is from a top gunsmith I often have dealings with that does a lot of work for forensics.
If a police officer takes your gun, tests it and says it's over the limit, you can, and are within your rights to ask for the calibration report on their chrono.
9 out of 10 will give you your gun back and say something silly like "just be careful".

i'm sorry Deano1 :-( but your top gunsmith who does a lot of work for forensics is full of shi-te :-( .

if your gun is anything over 11.7ftlbs it is worth plod testing or if its been used , or thought to have be used, for shooting next doors cat/window/passerby/add any other illegal use they'll test it and they WILL find it over the limit where upon it will be destroyed and you WILL be prosecuted .
