2002 trigger

Wed May 06, 2015 10:02 pm

Is it a straight swap from a 2002 trigger to one with a safety in it?

If you are referring to a S400/410, the trigger guard will need to be modified with a fine file to allow the button of the safety to move in the guard. Alternately, buy a new trigger guard.
Personally I would not carry out the modification. A safety in the trigger is a disaster.

Now I have to leap to AA's defence on this one. I like the in trigger safety its smooth to use easy to put on and off and makes no attempt to replace the safety that sits between your ears! I drill this into every one I teach to shoot, Never touch the trigger until you are sure its safe to make the shot, Never assume the safety catch will stop an AD it wont, and never rely on some one telling you the safety is on.
Get past that lot and your half way to having a safe shooter.

How do you put on and take off the safety if you can't touch the trigger ?

You are right when you say the best safety is in your head. No-one ever knows until it's too late whether a safety has worked, or not.

But as the safety is in the trigger and you can't touch the trigger your stuffed. You can neither put it on or off.

Theoben used to have a safety just in front of the trigger and that was also dangerous, as when putting the safety on you could nudge the trigger.

Its a case of always pointing the rifle in a safe direction. When your in position cock the action. When your ready to move you make safe
