New member here, but not a new AA owner: I've had an S410 Classic for a number of years, but never got the chance to use it as often as I'd liked. I'm now in the process of joining a local rifle club, and think it's about time the S410 had a decent service by someone who knows what they're doing - i.e. not me.
I'm not aware of anyone in my local area (Bradford, West Yorkshire) who does AA servicing so I'm looking at sending my beloved rifle away. Does anyone have any experience of Ben Taylor at Milbro and his claims of service, tuning, and the fitting of a homebrew hammer for £99? My other option is R&K Stockcraft, a registered AA service centre, which quotes "from £85" - although I wouldn't get the presumably upgraded hammer then.
Thoughts? Advice?

Re: Air Arms S410 Service
Ben Taylor has retired.
Join your local club and ask if there is anyone in the area that could service your rifle. You could always do it yourself, with help from here.
bgaltd (on here) can provide the spares you would need.

Do it yourself or get someone in your area to do it.
If you were closer to me I'd sort it out for you.
There are no great mysteries held inside the s4*0 range, just simple, easy to service rifles.

the gun will usually let you know when it needs a service. do a full chrono string from 180bar and post results on here in feet per second so we can have a look
a hammer rail polish and barrel clean maybe all it needs at the moment.

Re: Air Arms S410 Service
Not going to lie, I'm a bit nervous about servicing the thing m'self. Is there such a thing as a handy-dandy Haynes-style walkthrough somewhere that would let me have an idea of what I'm in for, and how many teeny-tiny pieces are likely to go "ping" and disappear on me when I take the thing apart?
(Oh, one ray of sunshine: as far as I'm aware, having done the serial number check a few years back, it's pre-AT so should be easy to complete strip down without having to get a pillar drill involved.)

You would get help from here.
If you have a digital camera take plenty of pics as you take it apart. You can then always look at the pics when putting it back together. It's not "rocket science" but does require care and patience. Very doable on the S400 series.
Just make sure you empty the rifle first then nothing can go wrong.

Re: Air Arms S410 Service
I'm just about to purchase a s/h S410 so l'll shortly be in a similar boat. Is there any point in going beyond a servicing kit and a polish in all the right places? Will be mainly using it for target shooting, not hunting.
If there is then what do you recommend and where would you get it from?
Thanks
Adrian
