looking on ebay at pellets for the first time ever I came across these 16+ grain .177 pellets, now, most members know my overall knowledge of modern shooting is very limited, but 16.2 grains!! in a .177 pellet!!
would these only suit an FAC rated rifle then? anyone tried them? I`d love to try some through my LGU, just to see the outcome compared to my AA Epress at half the grain count.

The outcome will be a very loopy trajectory
Just don't see any point except perhaps at FAC levels of power, even then they will be loopy.
You would probably get better performance out of a .22.

Re: JSB Exact 'Beasts'?
On a springer I imagine they would feel awful unless you changed piston weight and preload, probably still not much good.
Maximum 580 fps so in .22 territory. Good in the wind but bad trajectory compared to normal .177 pellets. Might be ok for ratting or hunting to 35 ish yards in a PCP.

I think it would feel awful and make the gun kick badly, this is also why the .20 calibre will never be popular as there are so many pellet weights in 177 and 22 to overlap the intermediate calibre
Re: JSB Exact 'Beasts'?
As I pointed out on another forum recently, .177 is sweet and accurate, ladylike almost.
.22 is more manly, more thump but not quite as good.
.20 is the worst of both. It's a transvestite.

Re: JSB Exact 'Beasts'?
I often wonder if it`s the sub 12ftlbs law that restricts our real world evaluation of calibres & pellets, I`d like to see the 16g 177 pellet driven at a serious rate to see- well, just what exactly happens?
also, .22 AA fields (mine & many airgun shooters 'go to' pellet) at 30ftlbs, what happens then?
also, the Airgun shoot with Giles in America last year showed the final tally, who shot with what in which calibre as being mostly .22, WHY, we KNOW .177 shoots straighter & I know americans have a 'bigger is better' mentality, but do .22's at fac levels shoot straighter or more consistantly at FAC levels than .177's?
I can`t sleep at night

Re: JSB Exact 'Beasts'?
Generally speaking, the bigger calibres are more efficient at high power. A .177 needs more spring power to produce 12 ftlbs than a .22.
A .22 needs more power than a .25.
FAC airguns will always be better or more efficient in .22 or .25 or even bigger. Think of it in terms of blowing air through a tube, which is easier? A straw or a hosepipe?
