Fitting a de-pinger AA S300

Morning chaps
I would like to fit a de pinger to my s300 ( a home made hobbies) which has the quick fill adapter and guage fitted, is it a case of dry firing the gun till empty or would it be safe enough to very slowly unscrew the pressure guage and slowly release the air, if so could someone please explain the best way to go about it and the tools I would need if any.

I normally loosen the bolt that holds the gauge mount, probably better than removing the gauge itself, just crack the bolt, and let the air leak out slowly, it can make quite a crack when you do this, and you might require a new seal afterwards. Rog
