.177 or .22 target shooting

Targets = .177 game over!

ok what about a gusty side wind at 20yrd which would have more chance on the target ?
a heaver .22 or a faster but lighter 1.77
who do you thing would be more on the target !

if both are springers the .22 maybe a smoother / less recoil over the 1.77
or if both are pcps ( which i am not that well up on ) is there any difference at 20yrd if you are a good shot .

I think you've finally hit the nail on the head there if you know your aiming points, your range to target and the wind precisely then it makes no difference, if not .177 is more forgiving Its not a case of one calibre being better than the other its what suits your needs best but if, like me, you are not an all round shooting god you will likely see better results with the smaller, faster calibre

would a heavier pellet stay on target better than a lighter pellet in a side wind regardless of velocity ? at 20yrds

It's the longer ranges that .22 falls off more than .177.so there is less scope adjustment needed on .177 , does make sense to me,but I shoot mainly 30 to 40 yards so I know my adjustment that's needed on the mild dot,.22 will always be for me , it's a man thing

Hi,after visiting hereward field target yesterday,I came away feeling rather down that I owned a .22 tx200hc, as everyone had .177,plus the fact all had p.c.p s,what I would like to know is ,can a tx200hc. 22 hold its own against p.cp. s.177....,I did feel that I was the odd one out,had a good day ,your thoughts would be welcome on this matter,

I didn't expect to read this thread and enjoy it, I thought it was going to be the same old, same old, but I'm very pleasantly surprised, I even chuckled a few times.

Paul, you may indeed have felt the odd one out, but the ALL important thing is, you had a good day. As your shooting with the TX200HC improves and you start rising above the 177 PCP's, they will become great days. I share your pain at the moment, as I am trying to master a new 22 TX200HC after shooting a 177 S510 for 3 years. Had the TX200HC for 4 weeks now, I've only shot it twice and finding the time to shoot it at the moment, is driving me absolutely nuts.

i am very lucky as i have the use of some woodland only 2 miles from me , the owner , a good friend has let me set up a shooting range ,
we have a 10 x 16 shed , we have cut out one of the sides to put two shooting positions with bench rests.
the range has a target box 3x4 that is set out at 27 yards for sighting up on ,

we have also got hft targets ( home made ) that run from the target box to 35yrd 40yrd 45yrd 50yrd
the total length of the range is about 75yrds in total
in front of the shed there is a pull in off the b road through a farm gate and a car park hard standing that we have made from wood mulch .
we try to make the place look like untouched wood land , we take in the hft targets and the sighting target box is coved with camo net and surrounded by logs,
its a very good set-up , the only thing we cannot control is any wind ( but that is hft real life ) but we do have a rain proof shed and some were to have a brew and put all the gear,

i will take some pictures to day and post them tonight
