I couldnt tell you long term if the springs are any worse, the stock AA springs are very hardy though, i would class the titan springs as needing a bit love,as a tip measure your spring before you fit it, a stock titan spring is about 230 mm long gives you a starting point

try the spring first before you cut it, they do all compress in different ways which will give you different fpe ,
then start to cut a bit at a time 1/2 coils to get the right fpe , about 11fpe as it may creep up to 11.50 with use, and fit the cut end in the back of the spring guide on a washer,

Hi,

Quote from the Welsh Willy site. (http://woodfield-gcp.co.uk/)

" I use Titan springs in the kits and have found they give excellent results, the Titans are all cut to ensure they give close on the exact performance the shooter needs, so you don’t have to do any cutting of springs, all thats taken care of."

Maybe naive, but I'm hoping that there will be no cutting of the spring needed. :?

Cheers

Yeah your absolutely right Will does pre cut the spring for you, and as said the power will increase as the kit beds in, my power stayed static as the kit bedded in and the spring shrunk, then i left it cocked for two days by accident and it finished the spring off totally, i gave you the uncut titan spring length as a guide so you can see by how much will has reduced your spring

Right, Next Stage.

Whilst waiting for the Welsh Willy to arrive, I decided to strip and re finish the stock. Luckily, there where no major dings or scrapes to worry about.

Initially, used a mild detergent mix with a sponge scouring pad then allowed to dry, then followed white spirit with wire wool to finish the cleaning/stripping process.

As it is walnut, and after a little hesitation I decided to go old school on this stock.

Boiled linseed oil, and I'm so glad I did.

Stock in the picture below (Although, doesn't do it justice) has had three coats of boiled linseed oil and at every layer has been rubbed down with 0000 grade wire wool. Brings out the grain like nothing I've seen.

Each layer is taking about 24 hours to dry in the airing cupboard.

Your thoughts ?
