Stirrup pump Issue:

Sat Feb 06, 2016 11:14 pm

Hi guys i have a question to ask. Just lately i have been coming across issues with my stirrup pump i,e im going through the quick release connection BSP seals really fast and i cannot understand why. I have noticed when i have changed to a new one and i go to pump my rifle up at first it is hard to get the pump started. So i wondered if i am missing something which i should be doing before starting to put air in my cylinder. I only put a new seal on 3 weeks ago and that one has blown also. So at the moment i'm at a loss. Here is a pic of the seals: So if anyone has any ideas what maybe going wrong please let me know thanks. :!:

Yes granville the dowty washers are really tight but it still was blowing air through the washer so i changed it for another new one and that has fixed the job but for how long this time. The last one only lasted a week i just don't know why they keep on blowing. So if anyone has any ideas why these keep on blowing really quick please let me know thx. :?

This may be of some use. Page 13.

Also with O rings if the mating surfaces are not clean and smooth they can catch and may become pinched, if so they quickly degrade. Remember that they are sliding into place each time you attach the quick fill so a light smear of lubricant is also important to prevent pinching; soap, spit or silicon grease.

I remember reading that dowty washers should not be over tight as it will destroy the seal. If am wrong i am sure someone will correct me. I always tighten and back off a bit. dave

Thanks for the link, it should be saved in the Tech section. I notice the torque settings are not very high. I have had several of the cheaper pumps and remember the instructions in one warned about over tightening, can,t remember witch one though. dave
