s410 regulater

Morning all

Been thinking about getting a regulater for my s410 carbine .22

Can any1 reccomend a decent 1 and the best place to buy it from. Also will it be worth putting it in a carbine?

Mmmm Have pondered this myself as have the same S410 carbine in .22 as yourself. It depends on what you hope to gain .. more shots and/or reduction of power curve maybe? Yours has a very flat power curve with nearly 80 shots within a 10 fps window and excellent (average over 77 shots of less than 1.5fps) shot to shot consistency ... that's excellent as it is. Fitting a reg may yield more shots but as the reg occupies space in the cylinder you may not (someone who has regged an s410 carbine in .22 please give feedback here ). In the end I decided not to reg my own carbine ... it shoots so well without the added complication and as you know from doing the work yourself there is very little to go wrong.

My classic length S410 in .177 though is a different kettle of fish. Power curve is more pronounced and could do with flattening and as the cylinder is longer I don't mind losing some of it to a reg. As soon as I get around to removing that damned anti-tamper I will probably fit a Robert Lane one as I have heard good things about the man and his products. One reason is is that I feel that there is more to be gained from regging this rifle and the second is to give me an excuse for a tinker. Drilling a hole isn't a problem as new cylinders are under £40 new.

At the end of the day it's up to you to weigh up the pros' and cons' of fitting one and looking at my post I haven't helped much

That said if you do reg it I shall watch with interest.

Not sure what am looking to achive to be honest Mark

think i have caught that tinkering bug and just fancy messing around with it lol. So far i have put new striker and firing valve in and got it shooting good with the help of your charts

Take a look at Altaros. They are looking good value and no drilling required. Do let us know how you get on if you tread this path.

Conversely if your rifle's sweet spot curve is this flat why bother?

To be clear, you dont get more shots by fitting a reg (in fact you'll certainly get less as the reg takes volume), you only get more useable shots.

Not always... Huma external reg for the S200 being an example

I have the Huma reg and I went from 35/40 shots to about 65/70
