Need help with my outlet valve

Wed Sep 23, 2015 4:55 am

Ive just installed lane regulator to my s510 fac. After reassembling it i tried filling it but air passes through the valve through the transfer port. I cant figure out waht i have done wrong.

Usual practice for an empty fill is to cock the rifle, so the hammer isnt pressing against the valve stem.

If it still leaks, remove the valve and check its clean and the face of valve and valve body are not scratched

Also check to se if you have a regulator on the air bottle. A good blast of air normally works, but that's only if the bottle will allow it.

Theres not a seal within the valve body for the valve stem... its a fairly close fit and the high pressure air is normally only felt in this area for a split second before exiting down the barrel.

The high pressure (now regulated section) air is retained by the face of the valve sealing against the machined face of the valve body... air pressure does most of the sealling force, with the spring and pot adding to the force. Although that only comes into effect once pressurised. So, without a bottle and its relatively quick fill, you only have the spring keeping the valve closed which may be hard work with a high pressure pump low volume pump.

Could you try a high pressure bicycle track pump to get some air in to start with? Yeah, a Silca track pump is only 220psi but its a much larger volume per stroke.

Presume you've already cocked and firred off the action a few times which should have allowed the valve to settle on the seat.

You havent managed to drill the transfer port wonky or so large it now bypasses the valve have you?
