Pro Sport help please

Mon Aug 03, 2015 3:24 pm

I have a .177 pro sport which is 4 months old, I put it over the chrony and I am only getting 9.6, would like it around 10.5 so question is will I be able to get this with pre load washers or is it too much. Will be pretty disappointed if I have to shell out more of my hard earned on what is supposed to be the best out of the box springer.
Would welcome your advice.
Thanks Ken

You could send it Back to Air Arms factory, Your prosport is still under warranty. However, they will put more of that dreaded Grease back into it though... :(

If you send it back, I will give it 2 or 3 tins of pellets and the rifle will twang,,, and again will have to be stripped back down to remove the dreaded Grease AA keep stuffing into these rifles. and you will have to do a re-lube with this..... http://www.philipmorrisdirect.co.uk/bis ... wgodJJkO2w only do a re lube after the rifle bed's in first after about 3 tins of pellets first.

Good luck mate.
If you decide you want to strip down the rifle yourself, were here to help you,

thanks for the replies, don't really want to send it back and be without it for 3 weeks, more than happy to strip it myself, just wanted to know if you think preload washers will bring it up enough

I would start with a thorough clean out of any AA grease, measure your spring length and compare to a new one, bgaltd in the sales section will help you here Get some new breech seals, power washers and a piston seal while you're on the phone to him. If the spring is within 5mm of new just reassemble with a small amount of decent grease and make sure the guide goes in the tightest end of the spring. Add 1 washer initially at the guide end and see what you get, In the future I would suggest a TbT guide and tophat using a standard spring, that brings the power up very easily and kills any twang on firing. PM if you need any other info.

Yes, pre-load will bring it up, you can get any washers from Bagltd. this is whom the lads on get most of their parts from.

Make sure the piston seal is in good condition as power can be lost from this. check all seals,,, breach seals ect.

The best thing you can do is re-lube your prosport with this... http://www.philipmorrisdirect.co.uk/bis ... wgodJJkO2w Then add any pre-load required.

Clean out the crap grease, only put a lick of grease inside the compression tube,,, I mean a lick of grease here,,, as to much will cause dieseling.
Even coat on spring and rear guide, not big clumps of grease just even coat..... highly recommend you only use the above grease I find this to work best

clean all parts, Barrel-Pull through,,, with Ballistol,,, It is safe and kind on rubber seals, Ballistol is a superb cleaner for your Barrel, Highly recommend.
When cleaning Barrel pull through from breach end, careful of the crown.

Do not push your rifle over the Uk legal 12,FPE limit prosports and tx200 shoot best around 10,5 to 11,3 FPE.

First thing is a total clean. Get an aerosol of brake cleaner and blast everything. Don't forget the barrel and breech seal. Then careful relube with a moly grease, such as the above or even CV joint grease. Less is more. Wipe on and wipe off with your fingers - it will leave enough on.
Whilst the gun is only four months old, how many tins of pellets have you put through it? I would suggest at least three to bed it in. Suggest starting with AA Field to coat the barrel and should be reasonably accurate as well.
Then chrono it again, plus try another chrono, unless you're confident from your other guns.
After that, start renewing the seals, fitting washers, tin bum kit etc. Better to do it yourself than sending it back!
Enjoy!

Dont use brake cleaner as it buggered my piston seal, use white spirit but not turps,my prosport wont go longer than 6 months before it starts twanging, and thats on standard parts, welsh willy tuning kit or tin bums guide set, next on my list is a piston liner to see if that cures the twang, having said all that its a mega rifle and supreemley accurate
