What a lovely sight!

I had a drive around this afternoon and spotted a few birds winging around one of the field I shoot on, oh joy of joys! It has been drilled and the woodies have discovered it and so have the crows. I parked in the track and walked off a good 450 birds, they were flocking back within 10 minutes. A quick call to Julian and we're on for a session with the decoys in the morning. 7am start, don't be late Julian!!!

Well, Julian wasn't late!
I told him 6-45 because I wanted him to arrive at 7-00am, he was 4 minutes early!
We set off for the field and rigged up a quick hide for Julian, decoys out and then I went another 40 yards down and used the pop up. We both had buck fever and missed a few but we ended up with 9 before we decided tea was more important. The highlight was the hare that ambled through both decoy patterns having a good old nosey, After tea and biccies at mine Julian made his way home with the birds.
I nipped out again this afternoon and picked up another 7 birds but it was tricky shooting with the northeast wind picking up strongly.
A good day, hopefully another couple of afternoons before the shoots come through and the birds lose interest,
