Pest species ... Would it be wrong??

So ... after a rest of a couple of years, I have my rifles firing again. At the weekend, I brushed off the camo and put it on to see if it still fits ..
And set out a few HFT targets in the garden. I was merrily going about having a plink when i was disturbed by a loud hum in the air. Looked up to see a drone above the neighbor's garden. Fair enough, i thought. Someone is enjoying their hobby. It zoomed off and away over the fields and I thought nothing of it.
5 mins. later, it comes back and starts to hover above the garden on the other side. This time, it stays there for a full 10 minutes and then I realize it is actually circling my garden! I have a den I built for the kids so I take my rifle in there to see what happens next. It remains above my garden and it was plain to see it was trying to find me   I could have easily taken it down because it was amazingly still in the air and only about 25 yards away - my zero distance  I have permission over the fields and there is absolutely no activity there ... just stubble where the pellet would have landed if I missed.

Was it wrong for me to have such thoughts?

No you were not wrong to have such thoughts
You may not think much of this BUT what if this becomes a regular occurrence while you are plinking?
Surely this was an invasion of privacy?. I think it needs reporting to the police, whoever it was, could well have been looking to spy on kids - or checking (scoping) out your property?.
This does not sound like recreational use and whoever was flying the drone needs a licence unless it is for recreational use only.

I don't know if this link will work but if not just copy and paste into your search bar
I know the thought of shooting it down is a great thought and I also know you know it is illegal  :o

The resolution on the cameras on these things are stupidly high! Someone showed me footage where you could read someone's newspaper from 50 feet up in the air ... Absolute nuisance if it is unsolicited attention.

You will have too check the pest species list but if it's the greater spotted drone leave well alone ,but if its the lesser spotted drone shoot away...….but check First they are very similar

All drones over 250g need to be registered. You can’t fly within 50 metres of a house. Shooting at it is not an option 🤦🏻‍♂️
