Hi Peeps, I have read an awful lot about the various types of silencer/moderators on this forum as well as others and the consensus seems to be thus AA Wiehrauch are better suited to the S410 and are the preferred choices of many. My nearest Gun shop who it must be said and by their own admission, know far more about rim and centre fire rifles and shotguns than they do about air rifles, seems to think that the Logan and the Sax have the edge on the favoured two. What does the team think? |

I have the Weihrauch HW100 on my 410 and in my opinion it is very quiet, if not the quietest of all the mainstream silencers. Don't forget you will need an adaptor, normally around £12-£20. |

Yeah, just imagine if you were to forget the adaptor Can't think of anyone who has ever done that before |

Ferrets Bueller. wrote: Both the QGs and Hw unit are as quiet as each other, its all down to looks Not exactly true, it depends on the rifle and setup. I did test after test with all the different silencers I own and got different results with different setups. http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/20068348 <<<<<<< silencers tested. Overall the best silencer (For my Setup) was the new Logun QGS then The HW. |

I have a Weihrauch on my HW 100 and the standard AA on my S400 (for which I have also an adapter and a Weihrauch silencer IMHO the Weihrauch one (on the S400) is a little bit better then the standard AA. The difference (for me at least - no hunter) is marginal. HTH |

Ferrets Bueller. wrote: Both the QGs and Hw unit are as quiet as each other, its all down to looks Cheers Ferrets and all. The debate continues. As there seems little difference between one and t'other maybe the Gunshop has a point. As they only have the Logan and Sax in stock but could with a delay, supply any I thing for convenience the Logan it is. With adaptor of course. |

As it turns out there is little difference and it's down to personal choice as much as anything. |

Or could it be that they don't stock brand Z because it's not as good as X and Y?!!

When I bought my 410 the guy in the shop recommended the Logun moderator, but on an A-B test, it seemed to me that the AA mod was a bit quieter, so that is what I went with. SysA |

I've lost count of the number of times i've shot a rabbit and then his mate and then his mate and on a couple of occasions his mate too. All sitting close to each other and all using a bog standard AA silencer. |

It still seems to boil down to personal preference. Each weapon favouring one type or another. Tells me these weapons have a soul too! |

Get which ever one you like the look of best, I don't know where the need for the queitest gun possible came from? I've shot two rabbits in succession with my unsilenced Dommie so if you're shooting in the garden go for it, but a different noise won't hurt in the field. Just my thoughts on it like. Ryan |

I've got to agree, once the pellet strikes home, there are not a lot of bunnies that are going to argue with you. Anything that reduces the crack of the air leaving the barrel helps, but after 30 minutes the remaining bunnies have a habit of sticking their heads out again. |

There are also my silencers, I make a couple a week as I don't have time to make more but they are very sought after and as good or better than anything on the market. Jon http://www.silencers4u.co.uk |

I fitted Weihrauch silencer on my S410 Extra: I hear only the air blast coming out from the holes at the rearmost part of the barrel plus the noise of the hammer spring. |

Thats the thing about silencers, I'ts all well and good having the most super quiet silencer but unless you have a gun with a super quite action, what's the point |

My new Logun CCFC silencer has gone back to Logun in more parts than a jigsaw puzzle after less than four weeks (two sessions and no more than 50 pellets). The unit kept coming loose as I was shooting and I had to keep on tightening it up (other too have mentioned this). Eventually the inner section made of some sort of Resin or Plastic just broke in two and had numerous other radial fractures. It's gone back to Logun for inspection and replacement but my worry is that the new one isn't going to fair any better. Problem is do I reject it as 'not fit for purpose' or do I fix the 'plastic threads' with some sort of glue to stop it working loose all the time. It can't be my gun causing it as it's just a straightforward 12ft/lb S400. The stuff the inner is made out of is very smooth and slippy (and fairly fragile it would seem) so it obviously needs something to make it grip the metal end threads to prevent it working loose and then overtightening it again. Any ideas? |

I rate Portland Jons the best of the bunch, the best finished and the best machine work also as quiet as a HW. Its close but in the end a mass produced item will never be as perfect as a carefully manufactured item made from quality components and materials. |
