you dont know how funny that is, because frank actually did get edna pregnant in 1974 
frank and edna have a son, alan, who was born on the steps outside hanley registry office, with sore fingers through hanging on until the wedding ceremony was over.
frank and edna split up 12 months later, mainly because of the drink related violence, gambling, domestic abuse, and continuous adultery
i dont know how frank managed to put up with it for 12 months

i dont think frank has seen alan, or helen as she likes to be called these days, for about 10 years

so alan also has a broken nose bad teeth ,bad breath,a limp and a distinct smell
