New HFT500 owner

Hi all,

Just bought myself a HFT500 the other day. It was an upgrade on my HW100KT .22 which I loved but struggled to get the consistency when target shooting.

I’ve had a bit of a play and fiddle and I think it’s going to take time to adjust.

A few issues I’ve had so far is the angle of the grip. The old HW felt more like a 90 deg pistol grip and the HFT has different angle/slope to it. It just feels awkward at the moment.

The second thing is the trigger. The HW was a dream, right out the box and I never needed to change it. Ideally I’d like to recreate this 1st and 2nd stage feel on the HFT - much fiddling needed I think. The weight of the pull out the box was ridiculously hard too - since sorted that though. I’m still undecided about the trigger button too.

I’ve fitted a bipod, moved the stock about as to how I’d like it and fired about 200 shots through it at 25yds. Getting mostly pellet on pellet to 5p groups and I’ve been very impressed and optimistic for better to come as I fine tune it/get used to it.

It is much more consistent than the HW already I must say but I need to get it out to at least 50yds and see what it can really do.

Sorry for long intro. I’m looking forward to reading some expert opinions and advice.

Cheers, Piles in Cumbria.

Hi Piles

Welcome to the forum.

I know what you mean about the angle of the grip. A lot of people like it, but I could never get used to it, which is why mine is now in a CS800 stock:

I've also fitted a Lane regulator and the shorter cylinder, giving around 170 shots from a 200 bar fill. I had to spend some time fiddling with the trigger, but now it is pretty good.

Have fun.

Alan

Thanks Alan,

I’m sure I will have plenty of fun 😆 especially with the weather improving.

You’re stock looks great. Not sure I’m gonna go down that route until I’ve exhausted trying the new one.

I’ve bought a blade trigger 3D printed jobby which I’ve sanded down to smooth and made be more respectable. Feels better imo.

I’ve also got a silencer adaptor and I’m gonna fit a Weihrauch silencer at some point. I’ll need to do some investigation into the effect on accuracy of this mod though. I occasionally do some hunting (from hide) so it would be nice if it was a tad quieter.

The lane regulator is tempting but I believe this requires drilling a hole in the cylinder? Again, something I may look at once I’ve assessed the sweet spot and consistency of the rifle. I was a little surprised/disappointed it didn’t have one fitted as standard seeing as the FTP does.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Piles.
