Unkown Romans and countrymen, lend me your...

Fri May 13, 2016 6:58 pm

Good evening ladies, gents and others of AAOC.
I've occasionally dropped in to view posts but finally plucked up courage to join the growing throng of online airgun supporters. Like so many here (I guess), my intro to this world of lead and air began as a youth with a BSA (Mercury, I think) and rekindling the fire three years ago. While the technology world has definitely moved on, it's good to have retained that same feeling of joy everytime I open the cupboard door to pick up an air rifle.
Currently residing in the warm, dry cupboard are:

Air Arms S200 Mk3 .177 single shot with XTX Huma external reg, Opti-TT 5-20 x 50
Air Arms Ultimate Sporter S510F .177, Nikko Stirling Panamax 4.5-14 x 50
Weihrauch HW100T .22, Nikko Stirling Panamax 4.5-14 x 50
Wather Rotex RM8 .177, Hawke Vantage 3-9 x 50
And a couple of .22 springers for the young un's to get hooked.

Currently residing within Norfolk, not far from Cambs border. Have several permissions to make the most of but have never joined a club and shot for competition - although this could happen this year if I can find one close by. If.

Thanking you muchly. A pleasure to be here and there and wherever the rest of you folks are. Is there a map full of dots that pinpoint the masses? Just wondered. Strange but true, I like details like these.

Freshly fettled and painted last month, GrandadG. The rifle selection is ok, too. Have to admit each one took some fact-finding before purchasing. I'm pleased to report all are very accurate and serve their purpose well. Each has a lot of plus points and not so many negative points.

Speaking of details.......
your first post ["Good evening ladies, gents and others of AAOC. "]
Where do you fit in those three options?

Personally I'm not a "Lady", certainly not a "Gent", so i must be one of the "others"

On the old forum we used to have a map full of dots to show where members resided, but it wasn't very good because people tend not to divulge their precise location.
I imagine you wouldn't want to disclose your precise whereabouts either, having that lovely warm cupboard full of "burglar bait" ;)

I'm human. Fact. Of the male kind aged 54. And one who occasionally lopes along on all fours in the Flatlands, close to Downham Market.
A revised map would indeed be cool because many statistics could be pulled from it. For example or four, a new club, range, shop etc could work. As said, there is so much could be gleaned from it.
Perhaps someone of standing from this forum could get the ball rolling? As you rightly say, people do not like to give much away so it would be a basic two-fold question like what county and which area of it, North, south, East or west? Such a thing may even kick-start the quiet ones to say hello again.
