New Arrival

Well she has finally arrived. I collected her yesterday from Rayleigh, Essex and I am now the proud owner of the new Air Arms S510-R Take Down Rifle. She hasn’t disappointed in the looks or the performance department either, zeroed today at Alders Farm and I am well chuffed. The loudness from the cocking lever upon closing that had been a concern for hunting is non existent on my rifle, however the shot count is less than i am used to it certainly isn’t a complaint. Easily worked out my holdover using the Mil-Dots on the Hawke reticle so now it’s time to bag some bunnies.

Great stuff, now time to do a shot string over a chronograph to see how well the regulator works.
Did you choose the. 177 calibre?

Went for .22 this time and it shoots very consistently. Soon drops down to 100 bar though which forces a refill. I haven’t done a shot count yet but that will come later just out of interest.
I do have an issue with my scope though which I have never experienced before. I have zeroed the scope at 30 yards but would like to go a bit further, however when I dialled in some elevation the turret maxed out ! I was on x10 mag and the scope is 1/10.
Any ideas ???

Reset the turrets and try again. What I mean is click the turrets all the way one way and count the clicks until you reach all the opposite way.
Half that number and set the windage and elevation turrets to that number.
Take a shot and see where it falls then zero from there.

Take some cut up bits of coke can to shim up the scope at the back if you still can’t get the elevation. You will need to take care tightening up.

No joy with the turret reset chaps...
I counted the clicks and reset to the middle, then had a few shots indoors at 25 yards, she was miles out so I went about finding zero and it was pretty much in the same place as before with the elevation turret maxed out.
I do have zero at 30 yards now after going to the outdoor range, which is what I have always used as my preferred range for zero but I’m not happy with the scope being at its maximum on elevation.
I’ll speak to a few people and maybe look at shimming the rear of the scope.
