TX200 mk2 silencer removal

Fri Jul 20, 2018 2:29 pm

Hi all, can anyone tell me if the silencer/moderator fitted to a TX200 mk2 is supposed to be removable?

I have taken out the small grub screw and removed the underlever block and the silencer turns slightly but won't come off!

Has anyone removed one?

Thanks

Phil

It has some glue holding it as well as the grub screw. A little heat is needed to break the bond. Make sure that the barrel isn't turning as well. If it moves, it needs to be removed and re-glued. Unscrews just as a normal bolt or nut does. A loose silencer thingy on a MarkI or MarkII will affect accuracy in a bad way. These guns are a minimum of 20 years old, so the glue just goes bad. Pay attention to where you set it when it goes back on as the ball needs to be in the center of the the side to side play of the cocking lever.

Thanks for the information, I was wondering why it wouldn't turn.
I'd have never guessed it is glued on!

Cheers

I sometimes take the muzzle part and the detent holder and wrap them in a good few layers of tape. I can then use an adjustable wrench, across the two, to unscrew the thing.
