Prosport owners: Dont know how to put a subject on this

Sun Jan 28, 2018 5:26 am

I was beginning to cock my Prosport and the screw that attaches the cocking lever and piston got pulled out. I tightened it up but after some shooting the piece that the screw goes through to attach the cocking lever to the compression tube was loose. What should I do? Also is there a washer between that piece and compression tube? I am in the States and my Prosport is not a 12ft/lb but 15 or 16 if that helps. Thanks a bunch

Common problem on the PS. I use a small amount of super glue on the screw which attaches cocking lever to comp tube. Works well.

use a semi permanent thread locking compound such as Loctite.

That can affect everyone, not just PS owners!
Josh, that linkage can be a problem as I've found in the past. Unfortunately when mine let go it damaged the threads in the comp tube so I had to get a new tube as well. I also got a new cocking shoe, the bit that bolts to the tube, I made it fit the tube better with the use of a file and some wet and dry. I measured the depth of the hole in the comp tube and found the original bolt could have been longer for added security so I filed down a stainless bolt to fit the hole. Roughed up the area where the shoe fits and then reassembled with threadlock between shoe and tube and on the bolt No problems since but I do carry an allen key and do a periodic check just in case.
It would have been nice of AA to fit a locating pin as well as a bolt or even fitting the shoe into a recess in the comp tube, old fashioned "belt and braces" engineering!
