After a frustratingly long attempt at zeroing a new scope recently on one of my TX's I noticed for the first time with Sportsmatch mounts that the scope was moving backwards in the rails. Now I have never found the need for using arrester pins before and so I was surprised.
Aside from the trigger mechanism I now only use Teflon grease in my springers, it is very slippery, sticky and seems to hang around forever... including if you get even the tiniest amount in the dovetails
I have preached it before but, was lapse myself on this occaision, good to degrease the dovetails and mount jaws prior to fitting a scope
Problem solved

Re: Scope creep
That's what the arrestor pin is for
The rail on the TX and prosport is so small that there's not enough metal for the mount to grip to, so proper use of the arrestor pin will help in this case

Re: Scope creep
You are of course quite correct, providing that you can align ok the mount with one of the pin holes, with FT accoutrements it's not always possible

Re: Scope creep
Dave Brayford at Staffordshire Custom Rifles told me recently that quite a few new Sportsmatch mounts aren't gripping the dovetail too well. Don't know why, maybe they've changed the profile on the claw? I bought some fully adjustables recently for my .177 TDR and they are ok thankfully.

Re: Scope creep
Good to be aware of, thank you. I have not found that problem but, did note on a recent set that they came with the clamp jaws the wrong way around.

Re: Scope creep
I use cheap hawke mounts on both my pcp and a one piece hawk with the arrester pin on the prosport and never had an issue with movement, there solid to the extent i can carry the prosport with the scope and suffer no loss of zero, ive always thought of upgrading to better mounts but i think i'll now not bother

Re: Scope creep
If you can afford them, try BKL mounts. I've had no issues with scope creep with BKL. Just as well, because you can't use an arrestor pin with them.
Plus, you also get the additional benefit of perfect (as is practical) scope alignment.

Re: Scope creep
If the scope moves a bit, and is against the pin, it can bugger up the arrestor hole. Had this happen on an FAC Pro Elite. IMO the arrestor pin only helps if the mount isn't helping. Get some BKL 260 mounts.
