Where to get a light weight piston for a TX 200 ???
What's the advantages of a lighter piston.
Can you make the original piston lighter.
Light pistons .
Re: Light pistons .
Nick Gibney (I think Nick G on here) makes custom short stroke lightweight ally oring pistons specifically for the TX200, they absolutely transform the gun, about as close to a PCP as a springer can get. Virtually no sight picture movement (the cross hairs stay on the target and you can see the pellet path & strike) together with very consistent fps performance.
Lightening the standard piston in isolation, whilst possible, will not deliver any real benefit.

Re: Light pistons .
advantages of a light piston is in the shot cycle. working on engineering principals of every action has an equal and opposite reaction. less mass is moved therefore less recoil is produced. yes a std piston can be reduced in mass by turning it down on a lathe. where to get an alloy piston, contact Nick Gibney or Nick Murphy. when using a light piston you will need extrapreload on the mainspring as the power will be reduced with a lighter piston.
Re: Light pistons .
I've finally got my TX200HC bedded in now (about 2000 pellets) and now it has settled down I performed a chrono string last Sunday. I was surprised to record an 11fps spread over 20 shots, as this is exactly the same spread as I recorded with my SFS tuned HW95 immediately afterwards.
Over the 20 shot string, my TX200HC did not break the 10fpe barrier once, only recording high 9fpe. I'm not hung up on the power thing, I am much more concerned with a sweet shooting, accurate rifle. However, I'm intrigued as to what Nick can offer to improve my rifle.
I would be obliged if you would kindly send me a pm with Nick's contact details please Sake-san
