Tried putting a pellet in (177) and the bolt needed more force than normal to close ,tried firing and no pellet ! Put my brass cleaning rod down and eventually the pellet came out mangled ! Put another in same result , cleaned with brass brush and pull through tried again same result ! Anyone any idea ?

What pellets you using?
And are you just rolling them into the tray, and then pushing them home with the bolt?
Or are you pushing them into the breech yourself?

Plenty of air , place pellets in as far as poss ! It’s as if something is in breech ? I’ve used this gun for a couple of years and shot hundreds of pigeons etc . Always cleaned when needed to keep accurate ! Looks like a complete strip and remove the breech and see what’s in ?

Shine a torch from the breech and have a peek down the barrel, all precautions safety wise being taken ( said before anyone else does ) Rog

Make sure the hammer rail is clean and your getting a good strike on the valve. Also have a look into the breech to see if the o'ring is still in position.

Eric,
if any of the above suggestions don't work, the problem is most likely to be the barrel has slipped partly out of the brass breach and moved slightly forward. The breach and the barrel have to be removed, cleaned of the existing glue(?), and refitted. I use blue Loctite sparingly. Be careful and watch for any Loctite that may have squeezed into the barrel bore and wipe off any excess on the outside of the breach. It should then be left for a while to set before refitting. Others may use something other than Loctite. It's worth fitting a new breach seal when it's apart.

This can happen if the rifle is repeatedly picked up by the barrel.
