Ftp900 reg problems

Hi everyone I've just purchased a early ftp900 2014 model and shot a full string from 200 bar down to around 100 I'm getting 730fps slowly and consistently rising to 790fps am I better off just having it serviced or better off buying a huma reg for it thanks in advance luke

Have you chronoed a full string? (rather than a few shots through the cycle). That will give you a profile which will help to determine the problems and solutions. Can you let us have your results?

It seems the reg may not be working at all, so you are running unregulated at cylinder pressure. A full profile would confirm this.

Hiya Tony I did a 80 odd shot chrono session and that's the results I got a steady rise of around 10fps every 15 shots or so

It seems like the reg is not working at all, so the gun is running on cylinder pressure. You can confirm this by running the cylinder pressure lower and putting more shots through the chrono. You should see the power peak and fall away slowly - a typical unregulated curve. If you get any other profile that will give further clues.

Causes: possibly the inlet valve stuck open, contaminated, the spring failed or some other leak into the reg chamber. I'm not familiar with this particular reg but on some it's easy to damage the reg or valve by setting the reg pressure too high (damaging the spring/Bellville washers) or by dropping the reg set point while the reg is pressurised (damaging the valve). The gun will need stripping down to investigate and fix. Aftermarket regs on the 400/500 series can be done by just taking the cylinder off but, as I said, I'm not familiar with the ftp900.

I had the same with my early second hand FTP, was getting a 80fps variation through a full fill, decided to go for the Huma set at 90 ( came showing 86 ) on the scale , transformed the gun its a different weapon altogether now, well impressed with accuracy, set 5% below hammer spring plateau and adjusted on ports running 765-70 it’s the lump of meat behind it that lets it down
