Indexing Post

Tue Nov 20, 2018 12:26 pm

Following on from the magazine loading topic I see that there is a modification to the indexing post. I have not seen this available from the usual sources i.e. Ebay, Chambers or John Kibbs and our own AAOC.

i have not had one fail but I can see there is the potential for the little lever spring to break. That little lever is attached to the post by a small screw yet if it fails you have to buy the whole post. Surely there is a demand for just the lever spring to be available. I read on another forum that a jeweller had made their own spring as they had access to the suitable alloy.

Is this an AA design or a DIY/3rd-party modification?
It looks like a solid brass lever with a spring wire behind.
The old-style spring pawl is the weakest link and therefore the first thing to get damaged if forced. Beefing this up might create problems elsewhere in the cocking mechanism - some other component getting strained.

If someone was just making the pawl {leaf spring ) old or new style available, there's money to be made. I definately won't be paying for that upgrade when it is just the pawl to change

Quick email to Sheila, and yes it's an uprated component fitted to all new S410/510 and Galahad

Don’t you think they should send them out free on request to registered original owners? Less than £21 anyway.
