Wed Sep 19, 2018 7:59 am

Hi, is the HFT500 barrel Loctited in place or just a push fit?
Thanks.

It's a push fit, but the trouble with mine, and a couple of others I've heard of is that it not tight enough! Have a look at this post started by me soon after I first got the HFT500

www.airarmsownersclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3257

If I had this problem again, I would use low-strength Loctite 222 (purple). I have recently used it successfully on an S400 barrel which just would not seal with or without 0 rings, PTFE tape or anything else. It sealed perfectly and - most important - I was able to take the barrel out cleanly, after a week, with just hairdryer heat.

The main thing, in my opinion is don't take the barrel out at all unless you really have to.

Good luck

Alan

Thanks for the heads up Alan. My barrel is a lovely snug fit and came out with a light tap.

The 8/10 I have fettled this year have all needed to be put in a work bench [wooden] to get barrel out....

Looks like it's luck of the draw and I got the bum card 8-)

I've worked on AA guns of all types and I've found that the barrel fit is probably the thing most likely to give problems for the S-series, including the Ultimate Sporter and HFT 500, particularly on newer guns, apart perhaps from magazine indexing. Let's face it, there's not much else that can go wrong, which is the beauty of the guns!

Good shooting

Alan
