S400 carbine scope eye relief

Mon Feb 19, 2018 2:04 pm

Hi
I have an S400 carbine 0.177, I have fitted the Rowan 10 shot mag, which works fine. The only problem I have is that it limits the position of the scope front mount, which means that my scope wont move far enough back to give me the correct eye relief :-(

It feels like I'm having to move my head forward in an unnatural position to get close enough to the scope, otherwise I'm just seeing a big black ring.

Does anyone know if there are some kind of offset mounts to solve this, that would allow me to move the scope further back ? or else do I need to get a different scope with longer eye relief ?

Thanks

Mat

Might pay to look at some single screw mounts, BKL are quite thin, and should let you bring the scope back a bit, I have a mamba lite on mine it has 2" in front of saddle, which is enough to get the right eye relief for me. Rog

If the single screw mount doesn't work you might look for a one-piece mount with cantilevered front ring, then mount this on the rear rail only.

Look on ebay. I've only bought cantilevered mounts for weaver rail. If you can't get 11mm dovetail mount, you can buy weaver-to-11mm inserts to convert the weaver rail mount.

Just out of interest, what scope are you trying to fit to your S400 . Rog

Problem solved :-)

Got a set of Rhino reach forward mounts, both fitted on the rear set of dovetail mount rails, with the reach forward mount at the front.... works a treat, eye relief now spot on :-)

Got them from red kite gun products on ebay

Hopefully you will find the Rhinos are fine. Just a word of caution, two piece mounts that close together can be a bit unstable so watch out for any shift in your zero. If you do have a problem try the one-piece mount.
