S200 barrel

Mon Jan 23, 2017 10:05 pm

Yet another no doubt seemingly stupid question :?

I've just aquirred a 200 in .22 and when I'm pushing the pellets into the barrel it feels like they are catching somewhere. The previous owner said it loved rws but I couldn't get them to group and they were hard work to slide in. I moved to Air Arms Field and they go in a lot easier. I'm not sure if it's because they are a lot softer or whether they are smaller diameter.
Is this a common problem/fix? Could it be the barrel alignment?
I've searched about and havnt found any links anywhere on that interweb.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds the same as mine, but as long as it groups with AADF pellets I wouldn't worry about it. Rog

If I'm marking or scraping each pellet I'll never get the rifle shooting to it's full potential though

It will have to bite into the rifling as you push it home.
Have you poked the pellet back out of the breech with a cleaning rod to inspect it for marks?

Yes - try this.
And push some pellets completely through too to check them carefully 'cause there is a risk of a bur at the edge of the transfer port.
Some polishing there could help.
Live is a journey - not a destination.

Cheers lads I'll hopefully get a chance to do it this weekend. Had a quick try to loosen the 3mm grub screws on the barrel and they seem as tight as the cylinder end pieces. Good old CZ :D

Tried to loosen the grub screws on the barrel today to remove it and they just didn't want to know.
I got one loose with an almighty crack but couldn't budge the second one.
What is CZs obsession with overtightening everything :|
